news!!

So, a big day today.

Brian's Mate is both a Rainbow Award Honorable Mention and a Rainbow Award Finalist in the Gay Paranormal Romance  section.  (It's still on sale at Dreamspinner, too.)

And...I just signed a contract for the second book in this series!!  :-D  It's currently called "Farn's Son," though I hope we can find a better title before it comes out.  (If you recall, Farn...and his son...were sort of the villains in Brian's Mate, so hopefully you'll find this interesting!  Farn isn't exactly homophobic...he just doesn't want his own son to be gay.  But his son is...and that means striking out on his own and finding a way to build a life.

It's tentatively scheduled for May / June 2015 from Dreamspinner Press.  I'm excited!!  :-)  (This is a full length novel so it will be out in print!)

(By the way, My Partner the Wolf, which isn't published through DSP, is in the same universe, but with a completely different slant or focus.  My Dreamspinner wolf title(s) more or less revolve around family and mates and sweet relationship growth.  Partner revolves around angst...with a little crime solving thrown in!  But mostly angst, to be honest.  ;)  I hope to write lots more in each vein, but...we'll see!  :-D

In other news, I am currently reading the Whyborne and Griffin series (loving it!!!) and recently fell in love with Amy Crook's books "The Courtship of Julian St. Albans" and "The Apprenticeship of Julian St. Albans."  So sweet!  (I've actually been reading lots more but I've been too busy to post properly about them all.  There are so many good books out there!!)

Also tried my hands at Twitter fic...not sure that's the perfect format for me, LOL.  https://twitter.com/thehollisshiloh  ;)

You guys take care now, and I hope you have a great week.

Here's what it's about:

Chemistry off the charts—but is that enough?

Tom Langley and Sean Goods work together in a human-and-wolf shifter partnership, assisting the police, rushing in to solve crimes wherever their bosses send them. They're a great team, and they have fun together, too: joking and enjoying each other's company in a way that doesn't happen every day.

Tom is also a married man. And his husband hates the wolf shifter with a passion. Tom tries to balance the sides of his life—one minute on a high-pressure chase with Sean, the next placating his husband Lowell.

Then the unthinkable happens: his marriage ends. Heartbroken, he's not expecting to ever get over Lowell's betrayal or to be able to love again.

Sean offers a solution: sex as friends. They have chemistry, and they trust each other.

But can they change their partnership that much? And is Sean secretly harboring feelings for him—expecting more than just sex?

Sean is a loveable, funny, strong, and protective. He's the best buddy a guy could have. But Tom might not be able to keep from breaking his heart—if Sean is in love with him, and Tom can't love him back.

Standalone novel from Hollis Shiloh

Sexiness level: Medium-high

Length: 78,000 words

Themes: paranormal, contemporary, cops, partners, wolf shifters / werewolves, friends-to-lovers, angst, emotional

Excerpt:

I walked up to him and dug my hand into the ruff of his neck, grounding him. He'd started to shake from the tension. The whole case, the little girl's life, it all rested on his shoulders right now, and there was no escaping that in any form.

"C'mon, bud. You'll be all right. Want a drink?"

He hesitated.

I nudged him with my knee. "While the air clears." I started to reach into the backpack for a bottle of water. I always brought some with us, especially in the heat. He could get dehydrated if he wasn't careful.

He shook his head, pushing past me, moving on, at first without any assurance, and then more confidently. He was moving off the road now, casting around in the grass on the verge and the bushes. I couldn't see any tire marks.

All of a sudden he gave off an arf that told me to hurry up, and off he dashed into the undergrowth.

What the hell? Well, I wasn't going to doubt him.

I looked back at the men. "We're close. Radio for backup. And remember we're probably dealing with a hostage situation."

We could all hope the girl was alive, anyway. He'd damned well better hope she was. Whoever he was.

I saw one of them lifting the radio to call in more people. Then I charged into the undergrowth after Sean.

Wes and Kit

Wes and Kit

Wes has a soft heart—even if it is a gear heart from when he was mechanicalized during the war. Now close to homeless and in desperate straits, he still finds himself taking on a stray dog—and helping out an injured man he stumbles across in an alleyway.

That's how he meets Kit. A harmless, gentle clock repairman with a heart condition of his own, Kit is in danger…because he's working on a certain clock.

He hires Wes to protect him until the danger is past…whatever its cause. But they find their feelings for each other are becoming too strong to ignore, despite the danger.

When a chance to solve the mystery presents itself, Wes finds he might just lose the man he's come to love…if he can't find Kit in time.

Length: 37,000 words

My steampunk stories

They are, perhaps more accurately, "steampunk related."  The steampunk elements are somewhat light compared to the romance.  :-)

Like A One-Eyed Cat

Jimmy's not good at trusting people. He grew up a chimney sweep and starving alleyway scruff. Even now, fully grown and an army veteran to boot, he's half-wild and only trusts one man, "the boss," a gentle man he works for occasionally. Jim certainly never intends to trust anyone else, but then he ends up working an investigation job for the boss next to a scarred ex-soldier with surprisingly gentle ways.

A touch of mystery, low sexiness, light steampunk elements.

Gear Heart

Living with a gear heart made from magic and machinery, Auden knows his lifespan will be shortened. Now a second-class citizen, he's part of the household of Dr. Gregory—the man who stitched him back to life years ago during the war. And now Dr. Gregory is being threatened.

A friendly (sometimes too friendly) police officer named Owen is assigned to help protect the aging doctor. Auden could resent the policeman who's come to help with security. Instead, he finds himself drawn to the attractive, flirtatious Owen, who somehow doesn't let Auden's cold nature scare him away. And that holds a different kind of danger for Auden's heart.
